Introduction:
In the world of big travel freeride bikes, 8 inches of travel has all but become the standard. Unfortunately along with big travel have also come big weight penalties. More and more bikes weighing in at the mid 40lb mark have become the acceptable norm and anyone looking to get their rigs into the sub 40lb category usually spend big money on lighter parts such as carbon pieces, tubeless tires and air sprung shocks. German based bike manufacturer Bionicon looks to change all that with their entry into the freeride market with the Bionicon Ironwood, a bike designed to truly embody the freeride spirit of actually riding up in order to come back down.
