The Daily Industry News Join IMBA’s Industry-wide Initiative to Put Kids on Bikes

We all want to see more kids riding bikes. It’s a healthy way to recreate—and the future of our businesses. What if we had the opportunity to broadcast the sheer joy and benefits of our sport with the megaphone of the White House and huge national organizations like YMCA, Boys and Girls Club and the Sierra Club? Well, that time has come.

IMBA’s Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day recently pledged to support the First Lady’s Let’s Move! Outside initiative and get 30,000 kids on bikes on Oct. 1.

Last year, we topped 20,000 riders participating in hundreds of events. Will you help us with an “all-in” industry-wide effort to grow this success in 2011?

Below are some examples on how your organization can participate:

  • Spread the word about events in your area through your social networks, e-news, storefronts and websites. We’ll provide copy, links and print posters to help you spread the word.
  • Host a kid’s ride (any size) in your area or partner with a local shop or bike club. It’s easy and fun. See IMBA’s Take a Kid Toolkit for ideas.
  • Encourage your retailers and other business partners to host an event in their communities. As Yoda says, “Size matters not.”
  • Donate $500 or more (in cash or product) to support Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. You will receive strong recognition, including your brand on all Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day communications (Web and IMBA Trail News) and other IMBA publicity efforts.

The time is now to take action and tap these unprecedented partnerships to get more kids recreating on bikes. Give me a call or e-mail to say “We’re In for Take a Kid!”

Mountain Bikes at the White House?

IMBA and our affiliates in Washington, DC, recently brought mountain bikes to the South Lawn of the White House. The attention to growing bicycling is unprecedented. Will you help us get 30,000 kids and families on bikes this October in a National day of celebration?

I sincerely hope you will join us!

With great thanks,

Rich Cook Signature
