The first of the 2009/10 "winter" races at Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City NV last weekend was a huge success. First time race organizer Francene Johnson did a great job of getting everything together and putting on a first class weekend of racing, with the only issues all weekend being a couple of mechanicals with the shuttle trucks, everyone showed up and threw down.
The format for this race event was a "1 run and done" format, fastest time takes it but that didn't mean there wasn't a surprise in store for the riders to give a extra incentive to push the envelope a little. At the mid way point of the race course on "Reaper" organizers arranged a "Speed Trap" using a radar gun to determine who was the fastest rider on the hill that day in MPH rather than minutes and seconds. A special top prize of a brand new KHS DH200 frame awaited whomever was willing to get off the brakes and let it run.
Overall it was a great weekend of racing with some impressive results from the AZ crew!
