Bike Tubes Reconstructed

Cherry Bombin Wear produces wallets, wrist bands, belts, pocket books, purses, messenger bags and clothing all from "Reconstructed" bicycle tubes. Founded in 2007 on the principle that there was no need to clog our landfills with discarded bicycle tubes, but rather that they could be recycled and repurposed into functional pieces of art.
"After watching a PBS episode where a duo was making clothing by weaving bike tubes together, I went into my garage where there was a heaping pile of used tubes waiting to be patched, and messed around with that idea. Being an avid cyclist, environmentalist and vegan/vegetarian, I was so inspired to move forward with this concept. I moved back to Phoenix from San Francisco and started working on a few designs." says Riccobono.
While fellow cyclist most likely grasp the concept of why it is important to recycle the "disposable" components of your ride such as tires and tubes, many people who are not cyclist may pose the question "Why reuse bicycle tubes?"
"Well for 1: they are being reused instead of being buried into the earth and for 2: factory leather production is toxic to the environment and supports animal cruelty! Rubber doesn’t decompose; it is durable, & waterproof! Reusing these bicycle tubes also promotes the minimization of consumption and waste, helping to reduce your footprint. Cherry Bombin’ wear products prove that you can continue to have fresh gear while investing your monies responsibly, supporting small business based on sustainability! "

Cherry Bombin’ wear is currently representing in San Francisco at ‘Trunk’ artist co-op and boutique, in the lower Haight, NYC at ‘AuH2O’ in the lower east village, and in a bunch of local shops in the Phoenix area, including: Cartel Coffee Lab, Green Vegetarian Restaurant, Bicycle Haus, Sunset Clothing Exchange, and The Trunk Trading Co.
